An AI receptionist for a tattoo shop that books the consultation and repeats your age and ID rules
Your artist is mid-session and nobody can pick up. Here is what a missed call costs a tattoo shop, and how each way of answering handles “I want a sleeve, can I book a consultation?”
No card needed. Keep your number. One code undoes it.
The problem
Someone who has decided on a tattoo wants a booking now, and they ring more than one shop. Your artists have their hands busy for hours at a time, and a ringing phone in the middle of a session is not an option. Many callers won’t leave a voicemail, and the ones who do are still shopping.
These are the calls a tattoo shop misses.
The calls you’re missing
- “I want a sleeve. How do I book a consultation?”
- “Is Dan taking new clients, and when is his next opening?”
- “How much for a small tattoo, and do you charge a minimum?”
- “I’m 17. Can I get a tattoo with my mum there?”
- “Do you take walk-ins, and do I need a deposit?”
What a missed call may cost
About $915 a month in missed revenue
An estimate, using the missed-call calculator’s sum with example numbers: 4 missed calls a week, 80% who never call back, 33% of them who would have booked, 200 dollars for the average tattoo booking, times 52 weeks, divided by 12 months.
Tattoo shops aren’t in the calculator’s trade list, so $200 here is a placeholder for an average booking. Use your own number: a flash piece and a multi-session back piece are very different tickets. These are not your numbers and not a promise of what any service wins back. GotItDesk is $99 a month ($79 for our first 100 customers): at that average, 1 booking a month brings in revenue equal to the subscription price, before your own costs.

When another option is the better pick
- Voicemail is fine if you book only through Instagram or a booking form and rarely get calls.
- An answering service is the better pick if you want a person to take messages and chat with each caller about the design.
- A front-desk hire is the better pick if the shop is busy all day and you need someone to take deposits, check ID and greet walk-ins in person.
How GotItDesk handles the call
- Greets the callersays it’s the shop’s virtual assistant
- What are they after?a tattoo, a piercing, a cover-up, a touch-up or a question
- Which artist?the one they asked for, or anyone free for that style, as you set it
- Your rulesage, ID, deposits and walk-ins, repeated in your words
- Quotes your minimum or rateonly the prices you set, never a price for a design
- Books ita consultation or session in that artist’s column, name spelled back, booking emailed to you

What’s particular to this trade
- Consultations are the booking. Add a consultation as a service with its own length. It books the time with the artist the caller asked for, and the artist prices the piece in the room. It doesn’t quote a tattoo from a description, and it can’t see reference pictures, so the caller brings them.
- Age and ID, in your words. Write your rule in setup, for example the minimum age, whether a parent must come and what ID you need, and it repeats it word for word. It can’t check anyone’s age or ID. That happens at your counter, and it takes a message for any case your rule doesn’t cover.
- Deposits are not live. It can repeat your deposit policy, but it can’t take a deposit or send a payment link. A booking made on the phone is held in your calendar and emailed to you, and you ask for the deposit yourself.
- Each artist is a column. Artists have their own styles, books and days. Each one is a column in your calendar, so it books the person the caller asked for, or anyone free.
- Pricing, your minimum only. It quotes the shop minimum or the hourly rate you wrote and nothing else. It gives no aftercare or healing advice; it repeats your aftercare line if you wrote one.
Set up in about ten minutes, and the price
Paste your website and it suggests your hours, services and prices. You choose a voice, call your new GotItDesk number to hear it answer, and only then dial one code to forward the calls you miss. It says it’s a virtual assistant in its first sentence.
The free trial is your first 10 bookings, up to 14 days or 59 minutes, no card. Then $99 a month with 1,000 minutes ($79 for our first 100 customers). No overage bills. See pricing.
What it doesn’t do yet
Deposits and card payments, texts and appointment reminders, connections to tattoo booking software, and looking at reference photos are not live. Bookings go to GotItDesk’s own calendar or your Google Calendar or Outlook, and every booking and message is emailed to you. We’d rather you know now.
